It is meant to be very rugged but without the usual bulk that comes with that. The phone is IP68 water and dust resistant and is MIL-STD 810G certified, which Samsung says should provide "reliable protection against extreme altitude, humidity and other severe environmental conditions" and withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters (less than five feet).
As for the smartphone in general, it is a device that sees Samsung take a poke at the enterprise smartphone market.
For that $499 value, you're getting a phone with a swappable battery that's a meaty 4,050mAh, and the phone even helps 15W quick charging, in addition to with particular docks that use pogo pins. The 6.3-inch FHD+ screen won't wow you, but it seemed perfectly adequate for most of the use cases.

Rumours have suggested Samsung could adopt branding similar to Apple's current lineup of smartphones where the successor to the S10e becomes the standard Galaxy S20 (like the iPhone XR to the iPhone 11) and the successor to the Galaxy S10 becomes the Galaxy S20+.

Microsoft and Samsung are not cooperating for the first time. Support for wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and up to 45W wired charging is also rumored. And so, as we enter this new decade of mobile innovation, Samsung is throwing out the old paradigm of B2B mobile technology and creating an entirely new category.
There is no release date set for the new Galaxy XCover Pro, but the new Microsoft Teams walkie-talkie functionality is now available in private preview, with the feature being more generally available in the first half of 2020, so look out for the new Galaxy phone arriving sometime soon.
I could actually imagine that there are quite a few consumers who may opt for this device.
