Voters seem to have had diversity at least partially in mind: two of the six nominees are black - the Hall's past inductees are overwhelmingly white - although just one (Houston) is female.
The critic was Jon Landau, the man who would soon become The Boss's manager, a co-producer for many of his classic records, and confidant through more than 40 years of rock icon's career. Landau, a MA native, was listed as co-producer for seven Bruce albums, from 1975′s "Born To Run" to 1992′s "Human Touch" and "Lucky Town".

That means there's no space for Judas Priest, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, Soundgarden, MC5, Pat Benatar, Todd Rundgren, the Dave Mathews Band, Kraftwerk and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. To be eligible for 2020, nominee's first single or album had to be released in 1994 or earlier.

Inductees were selected by a group of 1,000-plus artists, including living inductees, historians and members of the music industry. HBO will broadcast the event live for the first time, rather than in edited form a few weeks later. It is open to the public and tickets will go on sale February 27.
