Officials in OH announced that they found the body of a 14-year-old boy who had been missing since December 20 in the chimney of a house that was undergoing renovations.
Dilly was last seen leaving for school on in the town of Port Clinton on December 20, sometime between 6 and 7 a.m.
"Port Clinton Police Chief Robert Hickman said in a news conference Tuesday, "[it] appears Harley climbed antenna tower to the roof, and into the chimney.
Authorities found Harley's coat and glasses on the second floor of the home, beside the brick chimney, Hickman said. Police had already looked around outside of the house, which had been locked and had no signs of forced entry, Hickman said.
"We were then able to discover what we believe to be Harley, who was caught in the chimney". The chimney is blocked between the first and second floors, causing Harley to become trapped, Hickman said. "Since there is a lockbox and anyone can go in and out of the house, we went inside to check the house", Hickman said.
Police eventually located and removed Harley's body from the chimney.
Investigators released a surveillance image of the last known sighting of Dilly crossing the street in front of his home on the 500 block of E. 5th Street wearing a thin maroon puffy jacket.
Authorities found Dilly's body Monday night during another search of the neighborhood, a residential area along Lake Erie that is about 40 miles east of Toledo.
The Ohio Attorney General's office canceled an Amber Alert Tuesday, stating the "child has been recovered".
"R.I.H. Harley Dilly and fly high, confirmed by the PD both out there and here in my town" she wrote with seven emojis of a crying face.
No foul play was expected, Dilly's death is believed to have been an accident.
Officers who responded to the home had to calm the boy down but gave no additional information about the incident.
An entire community is mourning the loss of 14-year-old Harley Dilly.
