Because of Morbius' newly-developed monstrous appearance and his thirst for blood, it isn't long before most of the world turns on him, and he becomes the target of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents Simon Stroud (Tyrese Gibson) and Alberto Rodriguez (Al Madrigal).

Based on the comic books created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane in 1971, the antagonist's origin story follows Michael Morbius (Leto), a biochemist in search of a cure for his rare blood disease.

After the wild success of Venom, Sony is doubling down on its alternate Spider-Man universe, assembling a who's who of...who? The difference is the pace of the trailers as Venom has a more fast-paced vibe while Morbius goes down the Beethoven route evoking classic Dracula. Poison was criticized by some sectors for relying too much on lower CGI, but it seems that Morbium You will use many outdated practical effects to bring the Living Vampire to the big screen. Exactly two minutes and four seconds into the trailer, you'll get a glimpse of the friendly neighbourhood super-hero in a pose which may look distinctly familiar.

"Morbius" is out July 31, and I'd be surprised if there's any confirmation about this speculation before then. And while they have essentially lent the character to Disney in order for him to be included in the MCU, Sony only have full control over the movies produced by themselves - which Morbius is, and which Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was.
