'She stated we shouldn't be bodily anymore because it would construct our stir even more sophisticated, ' Robyn recalled. But following the marriage, Crawford claims her friend became further isolated and her drug use escalated.
Robyn says that connection was just one part of her deep and lasting bond with Whitney as she was Whitney's gatekeeper, closest confidante, and most loyal protector. Crawford wrote: "I kept it safe".
Over the years, however, Crawford said that she and Whitney "never talked about labels, like lesbian or gay". She felt that Crawford had a level of control over her daughter that she did not understand.
"She asked how I was doing, and I stopped her, saying, 'I want to hear how you're doing, '" writes Crawford. The 2018 documentary Whitney, her rumored bisexuality was presented as fact and it described a contentious relationship between Brown and Crawford as they battled for the superstar's affections.

One could only guess how Cissy feels about Crawford's memoir, but other members of the family have been vocally supportive. Crawford has a new memoir coming out, and she shared parts of it with People while opening up about their love story. "And then all of a sudden, we were face to face. There are some things we talked about that were personal to us".
Whitney's health and wellbeing would be on a slippery slope from then on and Crawford said that it was hard watching her friend becoming isolated.
In the passage from PEOPLE, Houston's best friend claims Murphy tried to stop the singer from marrying Bobby Brown on their wedding day. "I found comfort in my silence", she went on to say.
"At the apartment we took off our clothes, and for the first time, we touched each other", she continues.
"Whitney advised me her mom mentioned it wasn't pure for 2 girls to be that shut, however we had been that shut".
Whether or not fans agree with Crawford's book, it has not halted its release.
"I'd come to the point where I felt the need to stand up for our friendship", she said of the singer, who died in 2012.
Now a family fitness instructor, Crawford lives with her partner, talent agency executive Lisa Hintelmann, and their two adopted kids.
She hopes the book will remind people what a big hearted and generous friend she was.
