The brand new model looks to build on the success of the existing City that has been on sale for more than four years. Also part of the City line-up will be an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine, coupled with Honda's compact i-MMD mild-hybrid tech that made its worldwide debut on the new Jazz recently. Honda claims the new engine delivers superior driving performance to the outgoing 1.5-liter unit and similar torque to a 1.8-liter power plant.

From the side, the 2020 Honda City comes with a minimalistic look, with little to no chrome apart from the door handles.

The all-new Honda City that'll be sold in Thailand will be offered with a single engine-gearbox combination. While in the Indian market, the new Honda City to launch will be. As a matter of fact, Honda says the cabin is more spacious than before as a result of switching to the same underpinnings as the new Jazz/Fit.

KEExactly a day ago, Honda of Thailand unveiled the 5th generation, 2020 City sedan - a vehicle that will be launched in India early next year as a replacement to the fourth generation version that's on sale now. It also comes with aluminium pedals. The new Honda City will come in 6 colours: Ignite Red Metallic (exclusively for the RS variant), Platinum White Pearl (exclusively for the RS and SV variants), Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and Taffeta White for the V and S variants. Also, the new City is now EURO 5 compliant, which means it is now BS-VI compliant too.

Igarashi also said, "The Asia & Oceania region is an important market for Honda City, with more than 100,000 units sold in the region in 2019 (January to September 2019), which accounts for nearly 70% of Honda City sales worldwide". However, the India-spec model could have a different kerb weight.

The RS trim features a slew of sporty parts such a gloss black front grille with RS logo, differently-styled front bumper and grille, sportier-looking LED headlights with LED daytime running lamps (DRL), sporty black power-retractable ORVMs with direction indicators, LED fog lamps and gloss black trunk spoiler with an "RS" logo.

The character line merges into the wrap-around tail lights at the rear.

The VTEC motor kicks out 122 horsepower and 173 Nm of peak torque and is available only in the top-spec variants, mated only to a CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifting function.

A new 8.0-inch touchscreen media system includes Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring with Siri voice commands and Bluetooth connectivity. However, Honda is yet to reveal any details of the hybrid powertrain. Let us know what you think in the comments.
