Coach Andy Reid said before practice that Mahomes would be more involved, but added the reigning league MVP wouldn't play in Sunday's game at the Tennessee Titans "unless it's safe to do so".
Despite Mahomes' injury, the Chiefs are 6-3 this season and sit top of the AFC West. "But he's obtained to go through this get the job done degree and maintain expanding it and see how he does".
Mahomes participated in practice last week and seemed to be moving pretty well based on the little that was shared from Chiefs practice.
Even with Henne's return to the active roster from injured reserve, Moore would be the starter if Mahomes can't play Sunday in Nashville, according to Reid. Or next week. Or not until the Chiefs return from their bye for their next home game against the Raiders on December 1.
The Chiefs split the two games without Mahomes as Moore started in his place. "Now it's a matter of just going through and doing it. Increase his work level and see how he handles it and that's where we're at".
Kansas City faces the Titans this week before playing the Chargers in Week 11.
"We're kind of in the same pattern we've been in the past couple of weeks", Moore said.
"We have a good situation there because I have a lot of trust in Henne, likewise", Reid said.
Since being named QB1, the 35-year-old has completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 569 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
"We're likely to see how he does".
