Len Wiseman Set To Direct Female-Centric ‘John Wick’ Spinoff ‘Ballerina’

A spin-off of Keanu Reeves' blockbuster hit films is now in the works, according to Deadline.

Staying true to the motives of the John Wick character, NME reported that the plot of Ballerina will follow a similar story to the original John Wick trilogy: the story of a young female assassin who is seeking vengeance against the villainous group that murdered her family.

A new female-centric John Wick spin-off titled Ballerina is reportedly in the works from director Len Wiseman.

Fans might have had a glimpse of the said female assassin when she appeared briefly in the last John Wick film.

"If you're this f-- guy, if this guy really exist [ed], how is this guy's day going to end?"

The film takes center stage even as Lionsgate ramps up John Wick 4. However, it's revealed in Parabellum that Wick was born Jardani Jovonovich, a Ruska Roma Belarusian orphan who was brought to the United States and trained by the Director.

The movie will be directed by Len Wiseman, who previously made Live Free or Die Hard and Total Recall. He is known for the first two Underworld films and this year's DC show Swamp Thing.

Like The Fast and Furious and The Conjuring series before it, John Wick is set to become a cinematic universe. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum released this past May with a production budget of $40 million. Shay Hatten will be writing the script, with Hatten's previous credits including Army of the Dead for Netflix (in which Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is behind), as well as John Wick 3: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.

The game came to PC today, but there has been no news on when we can expect a console release, or exactly what consoles that would be on.
