Deadline's Pete Hammond interviews Robert Forster on his craft. "A lovely man and a consummate actor".

Forster had a movie career spanning more than 50 years. I never forgot how kind and generous he was to a young kid just starting out in Hollywood.

Ostensibly, the mild mannered owner of an Albuquerque, New Mexico vacuum cleaner sales and services store, the real skill of Forster's Ed was giving people complete new identities and getting them out of town - for a hefty fee of course.

Our thoughts are with Robert's family and friends during this hard time.

"I had four kids, I took any job I could get", he said in an interview with the Chicago Tribune past year.

Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson and Pam Grier were among his co-stars who paid tribute to the actor on social media.

"RIP Robert Forster! A truly class act/ Actor!"
