Popeyes knows you're still sad about its chicken sandwich shortage.

The chain has said it plans to bring back the sandwich soon after it "sold out" of the item nationwide last month.

Locations in Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Lansing are selling out of the new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chicken sandwich. And you bring your own bun ...

Popeyes' jaunty tweet acknowledging the shortcomings of this tongue-in-cheek plan - "Try our new BYOB!"

Popeyes is allowing guests to bring in their own buns, order a three-piece tenders meal and you can make your own chicken sandwich right on the spot.

"While we work to get the sandwich back in our restaurants, we wanted to offer our guests a fun way to satisfy their Popeyes sandwich cravings", a rep for Popeyes told CNN. It's basically The Sandwich! Popeyes also splices in sarcastic slides that seem to taunt the customers, who are just asking for the sandwich, and not another chore. Only no mayo. Or pickles.

In a press release obtained by DailyMail.com, Popeyes shared that they chose to promote the tenders after guests "couldn't get enough" of the sandwiches and made it a 'cultural phenomenon'. In the ultimate fried chicken sandwich DIY moment, a new video jokingly suggests diners buy three chicken tenders and put them on a bun from home. However, they haven't been able to keep up with the demand and it's essentially been sold out for weeks. "None of them have ever seen anything like this".
