The search for a missing 10-year-old girl from IN came to a tragic end after her body was found IN a shed behind her home and her stepmother was arrested for her murder, officials said.
Police believe Skylea was already dead when her stepmother, Amanda Carmack, reported her missing Saturday night from the home.
According to a release by the Indiana State Police, she was found at around 3 a.m. Wednesday. She is in the Grant County Jail on charges of murder, strangulation, neglect of a dependent, and domestic battery.
Skylea's body wasn't found during a Sunday search of the property, including the shed, State Police Sgt.
Amanda Carmack was placed in the Grant County, Indiana Jail. An autopsy will be conducted to determine her cause of death. The body was hidden inside a plastic trash bag. He said he was at work and Skylea was home with her stepmom when she went missing Saturday.
The six other children who were in the home are now with Child Protective Services.
"I can't wrap my mind around why you would kill a 10-year-old child".

In her call reporting Skylea missing, Carmack said the child may have run away from home and that she had done so previously, Slocum said. Investigators believe Carmack is the only one involved at this time and have no other suspects.
