The live-action of The Lion King comes from the mind of Jon Favreau.
Simba went into the exile by his uncle scar, Chiwetel Ejiofor lends the voice of Scar in The Lion King.
Elton John - who sang "The Circle of Life" in the original film - has returned with a song called "Never too late". Meanwhile, Rafiki (voiced by John Kani, the elder king from "Black Panther") catches something on the wind that Simba lives, despite what Scar told everyone in the Pride Lands.
Usually by the time you're premiering the film, you've had test screenings, or you've shown it to groups, or you've had advanced screenings for critics, but we finished just in time for this premiere. The audience has a lot of expectation from the film as the original flick received love from all over the world. Young McCrary belts out "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" as energetically as ever, and John Oliver's take on Mufasa's hornbill majordomo Zazu provides numerous same laughs as the original did.
After all, "just as nice as it is to be nominated, let's be honest, people want to win and Beyoncé wants to win the Oscar for 'Spirit" and actually expects to win for the song. The Guardian review concludes, "Basically, this new Lion King sticks very closely to the original version, and in that sense, it's, of course, watchable and enjoyable". If The Jungle Book showcased the potential of what could be done with computer animation, The Lion King pushes the boundaries even further, often feeling like you're watching a nature documentary rather than an animated feature.
