Summer is nearly upon us and there is a stunning celestial sight that will light up the sky on June 17: 2019's Strawberry Moon.
While the moon will in fact be at its fullest at 4:31 a.m. ET on Monday, it will in any case show up completely lit up from Saturday to Tuesday morning. Europeans also call this moon a Mead Moon or the Honey Moon. The occurrence is called "Strawberry moon" because it signalled to some Native American tribes that it was the time of year to gather ripening strawberries, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac website.
Contrary to what you may believe, however, June's full moon isn't necessarily named because of its color. It is referred to as the Strawberry moon, honey moon or mead moon.
Be that as it may, recall, top time doesn't mean your lone survey time.
The night of June 16 saw another handsome celestial event called Strawberry Moon. For them, the arrival of the full moon during this time of the year signifies the beginning of the wild strawberry harvest. "When the moon is low on the horizon, it allows you to capture the view with objects in the foreground, making the moon appear bigger", Jones said.
"Let's assume you are in the city, and people re viewing between two or three structures or over the horizon, it will make it feel that a lot greater and give it more effect".
Now, about that heavenly bonus.
Instead, interested viewers (and enthusiastic Instagram photo opportunists) should try to spot the moon just around sunset tonight, June 17 (at around 8 p.m. PT and 8:30 p.m. ET), since it won't be fully illuminated (and therefore easier to look at for longer) and the sunset will provide a stunning backdrop. That will be not a star, but Jupiter. While opposition occurred on June 10, the planet is still in a prime position for the month.
