For numerous presidential candidates, Trump remains the primary foil, but for Buttigieg, he's chosen to pivot his attacks towards his fellow Hoosier.

GLAAD pointed out that stating facts isn't a form of assault.

It should come as no surprise, but Democratic presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg is ruffling feathers with some of his criticisms of Vice President Mike Pence.

When pressed on his stance on Buttigieg's comments, Pence said, "I think Pete's quarrel is with the First Amendment".

Buttigieg, who has seen a meteoric rise in popularity, has mentioned Pence several times in speeches that have received a lot of attention.

Barr said in a letter to Congress that the Mueller report did not establish there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, though multiple members of the President's team had contacts with Russians and later lied about them.

"I think in our country we need to understand you shouldn't be attacked for what your religious beliefs are and I think kids need to learn that at a young age that this is okay mo matter what faith people have, we don't attack them for their faith", she said. "Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator", Buttigieg said.

When Pence pushed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in IN, there was an immediate backlash, and the then-governor was forced to back down.

In an interview with CNBC, Pence said that Buttigieg was attacking him for attention in a crowded Democratic field.

Pence and Buttigieg enjoyed a good working relationship while Pence served as governor of IN, working together often.

Buttigieg also addressed the controversy with Vice President Mike Pence, explained he doesn't wish to start a feud with the VP. But they found he was often reluctant to take on the then-governor directly or forcefully.

Pence later concluded: "He'd do well to reflect on the importance of respecting the freedom of religion of every American". Republicans including the mayor of Indianapolis demanded that the governor and the GOP legislature "fix this law" and "do so immediately".

These remarks weren't lost on social media watchdogs who quickly poked holes into Mrs. Pence's theory.

But several weeks later, as the controversy raged, Buttigieg attended a Pence event in South Bend. "We had a great working relationship".

Pence said he and the mayor worked together closely back when he was the governor of IN, and that he considered him a friend. You want somebody to joke about that stuff? "But that should not preclude someone from speaking out forcefully on a pressing civil rights issue". In 2015, Pence as IN governor signed a "religious freedom" bill that permitted individuals and business to refuse services to LGBT people. In his book, Buttigieg acknowledged that he passed up the chance to urge Pence in person to veto the measure.

During a Thursday panel on MSNBC's Meet the Press, Continetti said Buttigieg is using his Christianity to question Pence's own Christian values.

Pence also said the White House was "not concerned at all, not in the least" that there could be politically damaging information in special counsel Robert Mueller's report that Barr has promised to release in the coming days. "You will be polite to them in turn, but you need not stand for such harms".
