Nokia 8110 4G gets WhatsApp support

After Reliance Jio introduced WhatsApp for its JioPhone, HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones has introduced WhatsApp on the Nokia 8110 which is a 4G feature phone. It was announced by the HMD Global in a press release today. The app can be downloaded from the Store. The phone runs on KaiOS, and comes with a revamped version of the Snake game preloaded.

The Nokia 8110 is available across top mobile retailers in India, and online on Nokia.com/phones, Amazon.in and Flipkart, at a recommended best buy price of INR 4,999.

Nokia 8110 4G: Specifications Powered by KaiOS, Nokia 8110 features Qualcomm 205 processor. It has 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. The storage can be expanded further up to 32GB.

Running the web-based mobile operating system (OS) KaiOS, the phone supports VoLTE calling and comes equipped with pre-loaded Google apps like Assistant, Maps, Search and other apps like Facebook, Outlook and Gmail. However, now the device is receiving support for WhatsApp which has been missing from this device.

To recall, the Nokia 8110 feature phone comes with a 2.4-inch TFT display panel with a screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. There is also a 2MP camera at the rear for imaging and 1,500mAH battery for power. "The Nokia 8110 is a phone for "the originals" and I hope along with adding to the style quotient, this new addition of WhatsApp to the already existing bouquet of apps on Nokia 8110 will make it the ideal choice for our fans", Ajey Mehta, Vice President and Country Head - India, HMD Global, said in a statement.

WhatsApp on Nokia 8110 4G will allow users to send and receive texts, photos and videos with the new app and it will be end-to-end encrypted.
