Are you a big fan of Borderlands co-op?

A storm of tweets demanded an explication and Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox, made a decision to weight in and respond to what seemed to be minor jokes (since the two posts appeared on April 1st). Finally, you'll be taking on these foes as one of the four new Vault Hunters: Moze, Amara, Zane, and FL4K.

We've known about Borderlands 3 for a couple of years now, but the game was officially unveiled with a lengthy trailer last week.

Earlier in the week, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was evasive when asked about the possibility of the PC version of the game being exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

Instead of facing off against Handsome Jack, who is no more, players will be fighting back the Calypso Twins, the pair uniting the bandit clans throughout the world and working to get their hands on the galaxy's "ultimate power". We know a lot about the new Vault Hunters already, minus their personalities and backstories. All Vault Hunters are capable of awesome mayhem alone, but together they are unstoppable.

With bazillions of guns and gadgets, every fight is an opportunity to score new gear. Classic manufacturers offer a wide variety of new items, like guns that fire tracker tags, volcanoes, and even guns that sprout legs and chase down your enemies while "verbally abusing them". Yeah, got that too. They say co-op will be possible "regardless of your respective levels or mission progress".

From the press release: "At launch on September 13th, Borderlands 3 will be available for PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store".

Although there was never any doubt in my mind, the trailer also confirmed the return of Borderlands' co-op multiplayer mode, showcasing a brief snippet of split-screen gameplay that looks just as chaotic, addictive, and frenetic as what the series has shown in the past. That said, if you were expecting the Deluxe, Super Deluxe or ostentatious Diamond Loot Chest Collector's Edition, these won't be making it here. No doubt we'll find out more about Borderlands 3 at E3 in June, so stay tuned.

There are now three normal versions available as well as a collector's edition, all of which come with the Gold Weapons pack.
