Meanwhile, MacKenzie Bezos $36 billion dollar net-worth now makes her the fourth richest woman in the world, behind Mars candy heiress Jacqueline Mars ($37.1 billion), Walmart heiress Alice Walton ($44.2 billion), and L'Oreal heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers who is the wealthiest woman in the world with a fortune of $53.7 billion.

MacKenzie left the Amazon founder with 75 percent of their shared stock in the company, as well as voting control over the almost 20 million shares she is keeping for herself.

As Reuters reports, the divorce settlement agreed by the couple will see MacKenzie give up her interests in both the Washington Post and Bezos' space company Blue Origin.

The extraordinary divorce settlement between Jeff and Mackenzie Bezos certainly seems like a situation where everyone is getting what they want in testing circumstances.

Amazon confirmed in a filing Thursday that MacKenzie Bezos is expected to hold 4% of the company's outstanding common stock pending a court approval of their divorce decree.

"Happy to be giving him all of my interests in the Washington Post and Blue Origin, and 75% of our Amazon stock plus voting control of my shares to support his continued contributions with the teams of these incredible companies", she said.

After Mr Bezos and his wife announced in January that they would part, a United States tabloid magazine published details, including private messages, of an extramarital affair with Ms Sánchez. They have four children.

MacKenzie also expressed excitement to have finished the process of dissolving her marriage and conveyed gratitude to those who have reached out to lend them support.

Mr Bezos tweeted: "I'm so grateful to all my friends and family for reaching out with encouragement and love..."

'Excited about my own plans. More specifically, Jeff Bezos has lost no power and neither he or his ex-wife are set to liquidate significant portions of their stake in the company.

Jeff Bezos, 55, re-tweeted MacKenzie's statement and added in a separate post that he was grateful "for her support and for her kindness in this process". "In all our work together, MacKenzie's abilities have been on full display".

'She is resourceful and brilliant and loving and as our futures unroll, I know I'll always be learning from her'.
