Toronto Raptors landing Marc Gasol in trade with Memphis Grizzlies

The trade still must be approved by the National Basketball Association. However, those discussions were for a very big move involving Kyle Lowry, Jonas Valanciunas, and Mike Conley.

The Toronto Raptors acquired three-time All-Star Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies prior to this afternoon's National Basketball Association trade deadline.

Wright, 26, was averaging 6.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in a depth role with the Raptors this season.

Grizzlies center Marc Gasol is reportedly headed to the Raptors in a four-player deal. That solid move from the Raptors just wasn't enough to save their Twitter account from plenty of roasting.

Valanciunas, who was set to make his return from a broken hand on Thursday night, said he was aware of the trade rumours but wasn't anxious.

With Kawhi Leonard's contract expiring and the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks stockpiling picks around them in the East, the Raptors are making their move.

"I have been in rumours so many times I don't even look at it". "I just know one thing, we have a good team, we have a good future in front of us".

The Raptors are now second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 39-16, while the Grizzlies rank among the worst in the league at 22-23.

Valanciunas was cleared to play today after missing 25 games with a dislocated left thumb and was expected in Toronto's lineup for Thursday's game at Atlanta. It'll be interesting to see how this team adjusts their roster for the rest of this season as they're bringing in two additional players in this trade. Wright is a nice wing to add, and extra picks are never bad, but a second-rounder from the Raptors isn't exactly that exciting.
