"This is from Alex... but sung by me", Taylor joked to Ross before she started her serenade.
While many have dubbed her the queen of breakup songs, it was a collection of Taylor Swift's love songs that brought a USA couple together in the lead up to their recent engagement. "If you would give a warm welcome to my friend Taylor", Alex told the crowd, as Taylor walked into the room.
In a video slideshow posted by Goldschmidt, who proposed to his partner, he explains how the singer's music has been a part of their relationship.
Alex says he "never asked" the "Gorgeous" hitmaker to come to the couple's party, but had emailed her to "thank her" for the part she had unknowingly played in helping the pair get together.
And one day after the special surprise, Alex still couldn't believe Taylor's performance was real. However, that didn't stop her fan base from running wild with the idea that she is teasing something special, like her rumored new album.
"I'm surprised every single day", the 29-year-old pop star revealed to ET during a phone interview from London, England, after filming on Thursday.
Goldschmidt later took to Twitter to share his appreciation, writing that he has "never felt so overwhelmed with love and exhaustion in my life".
