The Englishman, who joined United from Blackburn Rovers in 2011, has started all 10 games since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December.

"We will challenge for the title next season if we carry on how we are now", said the 26-year-old.

"I think the club will have a decision to make at the end of the season, and it'd be nice to see if Ole's going to continue with this form, and get a shot at the job on the permanent basis".

Antonio Valencia has not started a game since January 2, but Solskjaer said the full-back has had a recurrence of his injury and will not travel to London with the rest of the squad on Friday. He has taken a lot on but he already knew what he was doing when he came in. "I know that, I've always been a confident person, so I have high expectations of myself", said Rooney.

The one-time Premier league victor earlier reportedly, however, demanded a two-year deal from United.

Speaking about the interim boss, he added: "He [Solskjaer] is a coach with great values".

This means that the Norwegian has the upper hand when it comes to the inner workings of the club, meaning that he could get on with things straight away when he took over from Mourinho.

"We have a laugh among ourselves quite often because I think finishing is something that comes naturally to me".

"The fans and I have had quite a special relationship from my first season and fortunately, it has continued to last until now. As long as we're winning games that's all that matters", he concluded. I've played since I was a young kid, I've always been a footballer and a striker from that early age.

If Man United manage to pick up all three points from this game which they should then they would move up to the fourth spot momentarily.

Marcos Rojo has returned to training in the build-up to the Fulham match, but Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia miss out through injury.
