The Knicks have been losing for years and has made bad decision after bad decision.

Porzingis said there has been "a good vibe" throughout the Mavs organization since he arrived in Dallas, which had not been the case for much of his time with the Knicks, a situation he declined to discuss in any detail on Monday. In 2017-18, prior to the injury, Porzingis averaged 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 39.5 percent on 4.8 3-point attempts.

The Knicks bench boss raved about Smith when he heard about the trade but knows the guard will have his share of growing pains.

However, they now have the worst record in the National Basketball Association this campaign, largely due to the fact Porzingis has been out all season.

It has been suggested the Knicks may keep him out for the remainder of the season to keep him fresh for next season. If they fail to do that before Thursday, they might just buy out his contract.

To find a player that was drafted to the Knicks and re-signed by the team to a multi-year deal after his rookie contract, we'd have to go back to Charlie Ward.

The Knicks with their $73 million in cap space, are betting on landing a top free agent or two like the Kyrie Irving or the Kevin Durant who will be available, among other big names, this summer. The trade created significant cap space for NY; the Knicks project to have roughly $70 million in cap room to spend in free agency this summer. New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis may be the next big star to switch teams, with the Los Angeles Lakers being intensely involved in those trade discussions.
