Bayern fly to Liverpool without Boateng, waiting on Coman

Liverpool news Jurgen Klopp could be looking for a new defensive partner for Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool take on Bayern Munich at Anfield next week in their Champions League last 16 first leg.

Bundesliga champions Bayern will travel to last season's runners-up and Premier League leaders Liverpool for the first leg on Tuesday.

Niko Kovac's side came from behind twice in the Bundesliga fixture on Friday night, with David Alaba scoring a 53rd-minute victor after Kingsley Coman's brace. A 3-1 win for the Reds is priced competitively at 13.00, thereby offering more than a ten-fold return on any investment, while you can more than triple your money by backing a combo bet of a Liverpool win, coupled with both teams to score, at 3.40.

Bayern, now second in the Bundesliga, are happy to hand the favourites' tag to Premier League title-chasing Liverpool, but are confident.

Dejan Lovren, the Liverpool centre- half, has turned to a Croatia specialist for advice on his damaged hamstring in an effort to be fit for next week's Champions League tie with Bayern Munich. "We will know more tomorrow".

Bayern nearly responded immediately, a Coman cross flashing behind Robert Lewandowski and just missing Serge Gnabry at the far post, but Neuer was soon called into action to save from the risky Max.

"This [defensive mistakes] can not happen to us at Liverpool", the Croatian told a news conference.

In particular, Polish worldwide legend Robert Lewandoski will be the man the Reds rearguard need to stop, and Matip is likely to be handed that job in stopping Lewandoski, who tops the Champions League charts for goals this season bagging eight already in the tournament.

"We need to be full-throttle for that game", he said.

Jurgen Klopp will be hoping they maintain their dominant home form by clinching a convincing win over Bayern on Tuesday.

Ahead of the fixture, Liverpool were dealt a body blow as their star player Virgil van Dijk won't be present to man the defence.

There was bad news for Bayern, though, with Coman suffering an apparent recurrence of a left ankle injury deep into injury time, which forced him to hobble from the field.

"We can not afford to underestimate them".

"They have lost one league game all season and have let in only 15 goals".

"I think it felt like three shots from Augsburg and two of them scored". "But we thought it makes sense we don't leave our last row alone defending against Bayern, [so] it all depends how we defend in general".

However there was one other competitive matchup between the sides; the European Super Cup in 2001.
