Despite being the face of the 2019 ceremony after being plastered all over billboards, the singer is thought to have made a decision to cancel any appearance after show producers at first refused to allow her to sing her new single 7 Rings.
The 26-year-old singer has chose to pull out of the awards show after she had a disagreement with the producers, a source tells Variety.
However, following a disagreement with Grammy producers over which songs she would perform, Grande has opted to skip the ceremony altogether. Last year, the Recording Academy declined to let Lorde perform a particular song of her choosing, which didn't bode well for her participation.
The insider added that these conditions weren't imposed on any other performers at the February 10 show. They include Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Dan + Shay, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, H.E.R, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Little Big Town, Diana Ross, J Balvin, Young Thug, Ricky Martin, Arturo Sandoval, Katy Perry, Dolly Parton and Katy Perry.
However, she has since refused to perform (or even attend the ceremony) according to reports, after she disagreed with producers. "I want to do it on my own terms from now on", Ariana told Billboard for her "Woman of the Year" cover story in December 2018.
Variety says they instead, 'offered her a spot during the show's Tom Petty tribute'.
Gaga is also nominated in the best pop solo performance category for Joanne (Where Do You Think You're Goin'?).
