Davis, who has requested a trade, reportedly prefers to be traded to the Lakers. The Times-Picayune that Davis not playing against the Lakers had already been discussed with the National Basketball Association.

While Davis is under contract with the Pelicans until the end of the 2019-20 season, it's expected that the team will move him to a team that will offer them premier talent and draft capital this offseason. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, there's a belief that acting general manager Danny Ferry could approach the league this week about rethinking their stance of forcing Davis to suit up on a nightly basis.

The second season of James' show, which will debut March 1, is scheduled to have both Anthony Davis, who has said he would like to be traded from the New Orleans Pelicans, and wide receiver Antonio Brown, who is trying to work his way off the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster. In the next three, the Lakers play the Pelicans twice, with the Grizzlies in between.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said last July that it was time to revert back to the policy that will allow players to go into the league right out of high school, something that will have to be collectively bargained with the players.

"That is a good question", Gentry said.

ESPN.com published an article Friday looking at the most likely destinations for several star players, including Irving, Davis, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson. The Pelicans are emerging from the All-Star break with a 26-33 record, six games out of the Western Conference's eighth and final playoff spot. "I think everybody here selfishly would like him to stay. You can evaluate a player based on what he's doing on the court, not anything related to AD".

But Gentry confirmed on Thursday that Davis, as well as point guard Elfrid Payton, would be available for their first post-break game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
