Franck Ribery Salt Bae controversy over $1000 gold steak

Former Bayern player and now sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, confirmed on Sunday that the club will take disciplinary action against the France worldwide as a result of his social media outburst.

Golden steak is one of "Salt Bae's' signature dishes, a 400g ingot cut of sirloin wrapped with golden leaves that costs a whopping 1,250 dirhams (299 euros, $340)".

The 35-year-old former France global, who has a turbulent history of clashing with the media, caused a furore in Germany and France by eating a gold-covered Tomahawk steak presented by the restaurant's owner Nusret Gokce, better known as Salt Bae.

"I had a long talk with Franck and I let him know that we would impose a heavy fine on him and he accepted it", Salihamidzic said to the media in Qatar, the base for Bayern Munich's winter training camp.

Arguably social media's most famous chef, Nusret Gokce, known to his fans as Salt Bae, served up a gold flaked Tomahawk steak with the usual pomp he's known for to Ribéry this weekend.

The steak ordered by Ribery, as well as its eye-watering price tag, drew extreme criticism online before the midfielder responded.

Ribery responded on Twitter with a few choice words for the "haters".

But after receiving a backlash for apparently flaunting his wealth, the 35-year-old Ribery wrote a string of obscenity-laden posts Saturday.

Ribery said in French, "Let's start with the envious, the hateful, who have surely come through a condom with a hole. 'F*ck your mothers, your grandmothers and your whole family tree, ' wrote Ribery in the first of three irate posts, having taken care to sanitise the French word 'n*quez". "I don't owe these people anything, my success is down to God, me and those close to me, the people who believe in me". "The others are nothing more than pebbles in my socks".

"In addition, in reference to the pseudo-journalists that have always written negative articles about me", his message began. "Oh yes, you are here for this type of futility".

Ribery will leave Bayern at the end of the season, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has indicated.

Ribery, who played 81 times for France, joined Bayern in 2007 and has won eight Bundesliga titles with the German giant as well as the 2013 Champions League.
