Tyler Perry Reveals He's Killing "Madea" Character In 2019

On Monday, Tyler Perry announced that he intends to retire the foul-mouthed grandmother who helped him in his rise to fame.

"This is it", he said.

Speaking on the SiriusXM radio show, Perry revealed that Madea will make one last appearance in the forthcoming film, "Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral", set to be released in 2019. However, Perry said that "it's time to kill that old b****", to Bevy Smith on SiriusXM.

"We're gonna say goodby in [2019]", he said, later adding, "I just don't want to be her age, playing her".

However, diehard fans will also be able to catch Madea on the road. He'll also play her on a farewell stage tour. Since then, Madea has appeared in numerous sequels, including "Madea's Family Reunion" and "Madea Goes to Jail". Of course, the most notable series he's taken over is the one revolving on a character he created called Madea. Perry, however, doesn't specify if Madea herself has died. She's been welcome in so many of our homes as the subject of over ten films but all good things must come to an end. Over the proceeding decades, the character has appeared in nine more plays, along with 10 films ("Madea Family Funeral" will be the franchise's 11th movie).
