To avoid untoward incidents in the celebration of the Halloween, the sheriff's office in Butts County in Georgia, United States placed "No trick or treat" signs in the yards of registered sex offenders.
While trick or treating plans changed, it was for certain that some of Brazos County's registered sex offenders would be at the Brazos County Probation Office.
Some Harris County sheriff's deputies are making their rounds on sex offenders in preparation of Halloween, including remind them of what they can not do for the holiday.
The sign reads: "Warning!"
Sheriff Gary Long, from Butts County in Georgia, unveiled the warning signs in a Facebook post Saturday.
Registered sex offenders can not participate in Halloween in any way.
- In just a few days, ghosts, goblins and ghouls will take over the streets of the Bay Area as thousands of children trick-or-treat.
"Children should not go to the door alone", she says.
Checks were to make sure those offenders are within their home and not dressed in Halloween costumes.
Those precautions can include making sure their children are dressed warmly, while also making sure the costumes are easily visible at night, and also talking to them about the dangers of talking to strangers, perhaps. There are another 378 who are no longer on supervision.
The signs were posted in Georgia, US.
"There's so many levels", she told 11 Alive. "There's such a gray area.but yet they happen to be treated all the same". And though some on the registry have sexually abused children, they're probably not going to target random kids on Halloween.
