U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley Is Resigning

U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley plans to resign, The Associated Press has learned.

Former Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub noted on Twitter Tuesday that Haley's resignation came after CREW filed its complaint. A USA official speaking on condition of anonymity told The National that "no one had seen it coming in the White House", at least not four weeks before the midterm elections.

Haley, whose given name was Nimrata Randhawa, was elected governor in 2010 of deeply Republican South Carolina and, during the 2016 campaign, had criticized Trump over his remarks on immigrants before their political reconciliation.

He said that Haley could come back to the administration in +any capacity.

Nikki Haley has announced she will be stepping down from her role as US ambassador to the United Nations during a sit-down with President Trump.

Before she was named by Trump to her United Nations post, Haley was governor of SC, the first woman to hold the post.

The outgoing ambassador returned the praise. "We will miss her, but we are all better off thanks to her service". Haley and Trump tangled before he won the 2016 presidential race.

The six-month timeline also coincides with a high-profile spat between Haley and the White House in April, when she drew the president's ire for previewing in a television appearance the administration's planned imposition of a new round of sanctions on Russian Federation.

"We're all happy for you in one way, but we hate to lose (you)".

"It has been an honor of a lifetime", Haley said of serving as United Nations ambassador.

A rookie to worldwide politics, the former SC governor was an unusual pick for to be United Nations envoy. Mr Bolton has been exerting more influence on foreign policymaking in the administration than his predecessor HR McMaster.

He called her a "very special" person, adding that she told him six months ago that she might want to take some time off. Mr Trump said that together they had "solved a lot of problems".

Haley insisted she is not leaving for personal reasons, nor is she leaving to spend more time with her family.

Not that this is proof of anything but Haley did just go boating with Powell.

"Introducing sweet friends to one of our favorite places", Ms Haley wrote.

She also hailed the president's brand of unilateral foreign policy.

'Then she'll be president, life will finally catch up to House of Cards, and then we can cancel Netflix.
