Sarri: I want to win the Europa League

Cesc Fabregas

Morata wasted another excellent chance as the Blues faced MOL Vidi in the Europa League last night, firing wide when one-on-one with the goalkeeper in the first half.

"I have to speak to Pedro", Sarri was quoted by Express UK as saying when asked for any team news ahead of Vidi clash.

The former Real Madrid striker has missed some glaring opportunities this season and almost everyone gave up on him after his shocking miss from point-blank range. But, the 17-year-old will hope to start this time, alongside Victor Moses and Alvaro Morata.

He has been a serial match-winner this season and it took him just 16 minutes to make his mark on this game, one that had been drab until his arrival, with his cross leading to Morata's goal.

"I don't know, I want to see the training tomorrow morning and this afternoon".

"He has played very well in the last period and he has to be confident after this performance". The Italian opted instead to go with experienced squad players who it could be reasoned got the job done, but it should have been easier, and the Blues boss, while pleased with the victory, will be as frustrated as the fans by the manner in which it was achieved and the buck for that stops with him.

"Of course, for us he's a very important player". Sometimes you can score, sometimes not, but the performance is important.

"I was anxious about the fact that we have conceded three goal opportunities to the opponents, for our mistakes". We didn't do it and so the second half has been very hard.

Alvaro Morata: the Spanish player will cover for Olivier Giroud.

Ross Barkley, in search for his first goal with the club, almost doubled the Blues' lead after hitting the woodwork with a header off Eden Hazard's free kick in the 77th minute.

Morata was also recalled to the Spain squad yesterday and skipper Gary Cahill said "I am sure for every striker, scoring goals gives them confidence".

"Now he's recovering very well".

"I think he can have a very important future in this club and in the national team".
