India vs Windies 2018: Twitter Reacts as India Obliterates Windies

Virat Kohli: India captain breaks Sachin Tendulkar record with century v West Indies

Ravindra Jadeja hits maiden Test century to put India in control against West Indies on day two

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred in India's biggest-ever Test triumph as they thrashed the West Indies by an innings and 272 runs inside three days in the opening match on Saturday.

Rajkot: Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja ravaged a clueless West Indian attack with strokeful hundreds as India headed towards a demolishing win with another near-perfect performance on day two of the first cricket Test here.

Kuldeep Yadav picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests, becoming the second Indian bowler after Bhuvneshwar Kumar to take five-fers in all three formats of the game.

The margin of victory surpassed India's previous record, set when they beat Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs at Bengaluru earlier this year.

Virat Kohli, the India captain, hopes match officials will take into account external factors such as heat while taking calls on unscheduled drinks intervals in Tests.

Debutant Prithvi Shaw was named the MoM for his magnificent 134.

Jadeja had to wait till his 38th Test to reach three figures, having made his debut back in December 2012. "We believe he can turn matches for us", said Kohli.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers in the first innings. Kieran Powell showed some resistance with the bat in the second innings as he scored a fine knock of 83.

During the ongoing India vs West Indies Test match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Ravindra Jadeja was involved in a comical moment on the field. Following on, openers Powell and stand-in skipper, Kraigg Brathwaite put up a 32-run partnership, but Ashwin got the breakthrough, removing Brathwaite for 10, caught at short-leg by Prithvi Shaw, in the penultimate over before the lunch. It was also more special as he has done it in front of his fans at home.

The West Indies, resuming their first innings at 94 for six, lasted only an hour and 10 minutes, mainly due to efforts of Roston Chase (53) and Keemo Paul (47) who ended up sharing a 73-run stand. Although the lack of resources in the bowling unit went against them, the batting department was full in strength, and thus there was no room for excuses. A promising sports broadcaster, his insights on the game of cricket make him a known face in the realm of cricket media.

If day one was an indication between the gulf between two teams in different halves of global arena, Friday widened the gap in the standard of cricket between India and the West Indies, with the hosts toying with the Caribbeans in all departments.
