Rapper Mac Miller has died of apparent overdose TMZ reports Mac Miller

Mac Miller died Friday from a reported overdose, TMZ reports. "He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans", the statement said. "There are no further details available as to the cause of his death".

Mac was found Friday around noon in his San Fernando Valley home after a male placed a 911 call. He was found unconscious and pronounced dead in his California home earlier today (September 7).

The Pittsburgh-born artist, born Malcolm James McCormick, released a slew of popular tracks since releasing his first single, "Knock Knock", in 2010.

A number of celebrities expressed condolences after news of his death broke.

His most recent album, Swimming, was posted to online streaming services as recently as 3 August. In 2014, he announced he had signed with Warner Bros. He was 19 when he released his YouTube "Blue Slide Park" album on November 8, 2011. The album entered at number one on the Billboard 200.

Miller, whose real name is Malcolm McCormick, had faced a continued battle with drug addiction and was recently charged with two counts of DUI stemming from a auto accident in May in the San Fernando Valley.

In the video clips, the rapper - whose two-year relationship with Ariana ended in May - showed a turntable that played his track "So It Goes". "I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be".

In May, he was arrested after crashing his auto in the San Fernando Valley, with his blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.

The Chainsmokers, EDM-pop duo Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, admitted they never met Miller personally but said they were "huge fans" of his music.
