OnePlus confirms the 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor

We've seen in-display fingerprint sensors on other phones but the One Plus 6T might be the phone that popularizes this technology

OnePlus Confirms That the OnePlus 6T Will Sport an In-Display Fingerprint Reader

Coming back to OnePlus, the smartphone manufacturer will also change the notch design with the OnePlus 6T. Other companies like Vivo and Huawei have already used fingerprint on display in some of their phones, but it still has yet to take off in a big way.

According to PConline, the 6T will also be equipped with a pop-up front-facing camera, which is slightly wider than that of OPPO Find X. The distinctive feature among these smartphones is the water-drop notch.

An image of the OnePlus 6T's packaging leaked on Weibo last week suggested the device would come with an in-screen fingerprint reader. Again, none of the 2018 iPhones will have this feature.

Bear in mind that OnePlus kept increasing prices over the years, but it still remained very moderately priced for the high-end hardware and features that it packs. A fingerprint sensing security feature adds to the handling functionality, as when you are driving or in the middle of something, the face unlock feature doesn't come handy.

"We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action", a OnePlus staffer told the website, noting that the tech was originally set to debut on the OnePlus 5T.

A OnePlus representative confirmed the feature in an e-mail to CNET, noting that it originally meant to introduce the technology in the OnePlus 5T but pushed it back to the OnePlus 6T because it wasn't quite mature enough at the time. The Face Unlocking display option will still be there, and users can choose from what are are convenient with.

The in-display fingerprint technology was first introduced by another Chinese smartphone brand Vivo.

You just press your finger to the screen and the technology embedded embedded behind the display layer senses your print.

Samsung's upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S10, is also expected to have one - though it's believed to be a more secure setup that uses ultrasonic scanning for a 3D map of your fingerprint.
