Alucard, the tragic hero from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, appears as an Assist Trophy, lending his cursed steel in battle. Dracula's Castle is the new stage, which spawns items from candlesticks and features appearances from Castlevania bosses including Dracula, and 34 songs from the series. Ultimate, but don't worry if that's too much righteousness for you - King K. Rool from the Donkey Kong Country series is on his way, too. And Nintendo confirmed two more fan-requested characters are joining the Smash Bros. roster as Echo Fighters: Dark Samus from the Metroid Prime series, and Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Nintendo will also introduce several new stages, bringing the tally to 103, a stark difference from the 42 offered in the 3DS and Wii U versions.

With a non-stop onslaught of new information coming from today's Smash Direct, the official website for Smash Ultimate has been touched up across the board. Classic mode, which made its debut way back in the very first Super Smash Bros game for N64, will be returning in Ultimate. Newer items get a full description, while older ones are limited to their key art.

Smashdown mode is a new mode that removes characters from the selection as they are chosen for battle.

Music: Smash Bros. Ultimate will include over 800 tracks, which add up to over 28 hours of music.

Nowadays, character reveal leaks for fighting games are as legit as they come.

Likewise, the Direct also revealed a new mode called Squad Strike, which pits 5×5 or 3v3 teams against one another in an elimination competition, which can be played either co-operatively with other players taking turns or solo. Playlists can also be created in the game for playing, and used in handheld mode with the screen off.

Another welcome addition is the inclusion of a structured Tourney mode, so players in larger groups can spend less time making brackets and more time competing. What Smash Bros. Ultimate announcements are you most excited for?

At some point in the 26-minute video stream, which went live on August 8, a teaser for the upcoming game featured characters from the "Castlevania" franchise crossing over to Nintendo's brawler.

There's plenty of time to make those extra reveals too, as Super Smash Bros Ultimate won't be here until December 7.
