Benjamin verbally dismantled his former teammate in an interview last week, questioning the one-time MVP's intellectual abilities and accuracy as a passer. The receiver didn't seem too eager to talk to his former quarterback in the exchange, which you can see here.

Following the game, Cam kept quiet about the incident, but Benjamin spoke up a little about why he showed little interest in listening to Newton and what he had to say. A first-round pick by the Panthers in 2014, Benjamin was traded to the Bills midway through last season for a pair of draft picks. Any other accurate quarterback like [Aaron] Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben [Roethlisberger] - anybody! - quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. "It just felt like I wasn't in that position". Newton met him on the field pregame, getting into the receiver's face and following Benjamin when he tried to walk off.

Newton declined to speak to reporters after the game.

Benjamin's comments with The Athletic brought the conflict into the spotlight.

The conversation continued until Benjamin said something to Newton that had Newton gesturing that he was finished with him. I don't know, man ... Benjamin saved his best compliment for young Damiere Byrd, though. "I play for the Buffalo Bills".
