Some weakening is forecast for Thursday, when Chris will probably become a strong post-tropical cyclone.
The storm became more organized Tuesday with a well-defined eye appearing.
Northern Ireland and Scotland will be lashed by showers on Sunday before Wales and England face wet weather on Monday, the forecasting chart suggests.
Walsh says the entire duration of the storm will be less than 12 hours, except for the remaining swell into Friday morning.
"In 2014, ex-hurricane Bertha brought a wet and windy August, but the next month ex-hurricane Cristobal flipped the switch to a hot and sunny September". It had winds of 90 miles per hour, the Hurricane Center said.
She said that ex-hurricanes like Chris happen regularly.
Although there has been a dip in temperatures over the last few days, with cooler temperatures of around 20C, this is is set to build again towards the end of the week, bringing higher temperatures of around 25C just in time for the weekend.
"The potential storm will move up the U.S. Eastern Seaboard and as it does, it will stay in conditions that can support tropical development", she added. Remnants of Tropical Storm Beryl continued to be a rainmaker in the Caribbean, affecting the Dominican Republic and Haiti as well as Western Cuba, the NHC said.
The storm will generate risky surf conditions and life-threatening rip currents along the North Carolina and mid-Atlantic coasts the next few days as it continues to speed away from the US, forecasters said.
"A further increase in forward speed is expected as a strong deep-layer trough digs southeastward along the USA east coast, accelerating the cyclone at forward speeds of 25-30 kt by 48 hours and beyond", according to the NHC.
However, this doesn't mean that the weather conditions in the United Kingdom won't be impacted by Storm Chris, as wet and windy weather conditions are now expected.
