Rams players react to LeBron James signing with the Lakers

James is considered a rival of retired Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan for the title of greatest player in National Basketball Association history.

The 33-year-old James is coming off a season in which he averaged 27.5 points per game with the Cleveland Cavaliers. "This will always be home".

LeBron James is leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for a 4-year, $154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the Lakers netting James is what this means for free agency moving forward.

Shortly after LeBron's agency broke the news of James signing with the Lakers, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Leonard remains focused on playing for L.A. Los Angeles considered itself a lock to sign 2018 free agent Paul George when his former team, the Indiana Pacers, traded him last summer. James left money on the table to go to Los Angeles - as Cleveland could've offered him $207 million over five years - and the better team in the 76ers. That's $38.5 million per season.

James' move to the Western Conference will end his dominance of the Eastern Conference: Whether Miami or Cleveland, James' teams have represented the East in the NBA Finals for eight consecutive seasons.

James and the Cavaliers had been beaten in three out of four NBA Finals against the Warriors since 2015. But having James committed for the foreseeable future gives the Lakers reason to play the long game.

Cousins becomes an even more attractive option given that the San Antonio Spurs are not rushing to trade Kawhi Leonard.

The decision to join the Lakers was not a surprise to his innermost circle, with one person telling AP that it had been presumed for some time that he was headed to Los Angeles next season. James added: "So I don't have an answer for you right now as far as that".
