James led the Cavs to their fourth straight NBA Finals this season, carrying a team that endured injuries and a roster overhaul at the trading deadline.
James, who can opt out and become a free agent this summer, reached the NBA Finals with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 only to be swept by the San Antonio Spurs.
Altman was asked whether James would have the patience to play alongside a 19-year-old rookie point guard in 2018-19, which will be James' 16th season in the league.
The Cavs used their no. 8 pick on the dynamic point guard from the Alabama program, reportedly without factoring in LeBron James' decision. When guys start playing pick-up games, they'll be in that mix, if they continue on the path they're on, but there's no indication they wouldn't.
With or without James, the Cavs need a young, talented point guard.
If James doesn't stay in Cleveland, there's a strong chance he'll look to join the Los Angeles Lakers, who have salary-cap room to sign two maximum contract players.
"Obviously, I'd love to play with LeBron the rest of my career, but that will be a choice that he makes", Love said.
"That's probably all I can say at this point regarding him, but we don't take him for granted". With two years remaining on his contract that's worth approximately $49.6 million, with the final year of his deal being a player option in 2019-20, Love seems to want to remain a Cav as much as the Cavaliers supposedly want him to remain in Cleveland. "And what was really encouraging about the workout is he actually shot it a lot better". And then you feel people, like, you feel them. "But I feel like I'm not going to have to live up to anybody's shoes, but I'm going to come in and learn and be the best player I can be on the court as well as off the court". L.A. was also fined $50,000 in February for Johnson's public comments praising the play of Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
James, Cleveland.com reported, has been in touch with the team through his representatives. "Now having him (Sexton) and having Clarkson and Hood and Cedi, Big Z, and now we have guys we can develop and help and try to mature as they go along".
Additionally, he was named the AP Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-SEC this past season, while the league's coaches voted him as the SEC Freshman of the Year and to the All-Freshman squad and All-SEC second team.
