Guardiola: Man City’s Pre-Season Not Easy Without Key Players

Bernardo Silva netted a brace as Manchester City overturned a two-goal deficit to trump Bayern Munich 3-2 for their first win at the International Champions Cup.

The Algerian winger, a £60 million summer signing from Leicester City, hurt his ankle in an early challenge from United States defender Chris Richards and left the pitch in the 26th minute.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola spoke to reporters last night, and responded when asked what his views are on Liverpool's big spending this summer, as quoted by Goal.

"It was his ankle".

Last season, Guardiola deployed him as a centre-midfielder in the title-winning City line-up and just like the previous years, the Spaniard shined in that role too which eventually turned out to be one his finest seasons. "I don't know what I'll do but I couldn't play for another English side".

"I said before the game, it's not that he has problems", Klopp explained. The result doesn't matter, nothing counts, but the performance was similar to the second game [against Liverpool].

Nmecha restored parity within six minutes of the second half restarting after pouncing on the rebound, having seen Sven Ulreich - who has been unconvincing throughout the pre-season tournament - push Phil Foden's shot straight into the path of the 19-year-old. "I would prefer for them to come back as soon as possible, but it is not possible".

"When you are travelling overseas to see your family you can't be 100 percent concentrated on your job or profession with a problem like this. I'm sure this year we're going to do it".

"We need players for the final, but if they are not coming back, we'll play with the guys who are here".

"I have a better perspective now that I am looking back at my time there and it's always positive", he said. "With his help, things are much better now".

Bayern seem to have a few more experienced players available which gives them a key advantage in a game likely to be dominated by youngsters and inexperience.

Salah and Mane both reported for duty for Liverpool in time for Wednesday's game. But I'm so satisfied for the intention.
