Spider-Man's E3 2018 appearance featured a long lineup of villains

Due to its fantastic gameplay and incredible mechanics, it seems the game will provide us with many thrills and excitement.

Perhaps the most exciting non-comics Spidey property on the horizon though is the new Playstation 4 exclusive video game, simply titled Spider-Man.

The stunning gameplay clip released at E3 takes the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man out of the neighborhood and into The Raft, a maximum security prison where Electro is attempting to bust out a bunch of criminals to run loose in New York City.

Unlike some of the less faithful Spider-Man games, you'll have to attach your webs to actual buildings and can't magically swing from the sky.

"When we hit upon the Mongol invasion of Tsushima of 1274, it all clicked", explains Nate Fox, Game Director at Sucker Punch. The game was first announced in 2016, and we've been patiently waiting for it ever since. There was no sign of Joel this time around, but one thing's for sure: The Last of Us 2 is going to be very, very dark.

Of course, there is also plenty of combat, alongside story cutscenes.

Sony was content with letting the trailer speak for itself, giving it little in the way of introduction and saying nothing about the game afterward. They were soon joined by familiar faces from Spider-Man's rogues gallery, including Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, and Mister Negative. Our guess is on Doctor Octopus or the Green Goblin. Yes, this is a combo-based fighter not unlike a Batman game, but Spider-Man's agility and gadgets help speed up the pace of fights and add variety to the mix.

- A new game called "Control" looks like it gives you super powers - and it's made by the same studio behind "Max Payne" and "Quantum Break", so expect lots of beautiful-looking, heart-pounding action.
