Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan shared a photo that showed him Balakrishnan welcoming Kim Jong-Un to Singapore.

Dressed in his trademark, ill-fitting, dark gray Mao suit, and sweating in Singapore's tropical humidity, Kim visited some of Singapore's most famous tourist attractions.

The expected Kim-Trump meeting is considered unique given it'll be the closest meeting the leaders of the U.S. and North Korea have ever had.

"The Police seek the understanding and cooperation of the public as these measures are necessary to ensuring the security of the summit", it added. "Thanks to your honest efforts. we were able to complete the preparation for the historic summit".

But a series of diplomatic overtures involving North Korea, South Korea and the United States reduced tensions and led Trump in March to quickly accept Kim's invitation to meet.

The KCNA report was unusual in its clarity, mentioning the "historic first summit meeting and talks" between Kim and Trump.

Trump and Kim landed in a city teeming with media and onlookers of all stripes, from foreign policy analysts like Kelly and Enos to former basketball star Dennis Rodman, who claims to be a friend of the two leaders.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday the "ultimate objective" of a historic summit with North Korea had not changed and the United States was "eager to see" if North Korea was honest about denuclearization.

In return, Kim, said to be in his mid-thirties, called Trump "mentally deranged" and a "dotard".

Earlier, North Korean media confirmed that Washington and Pyongyang will discuss denuclearisation. Trump and Kim lookalikes held a summit of their own at a local shopping mall, while one bistro is offering a libation known as the Trump-Kim "Bromance:" Beer, tequila, diet Coke and the Korean distilled rice liquor known as soju.

During the meeting, the officials also celebrated Trump's birthday.

It's unclear what Mr. Trump and Kim might decide Tuesday.

Commuters read news of Kim Jong-un's arrival in Singapore, at a train station in Pyongyang.

Larry Kudlow, Trump's economic adviser, said Sunday on CNN that Trudeau's criticism had damaged Trump's prestige before the summit - and that's why Trump reacted so strongly.

Just meeting with Mr. Trump will also give Kim a recognition North Korea has long sought, setting him up as global player and equal to the USA domestically and, internationally, as the leader of a "normal country" worthy of respect.
