The 15-year-old boy, Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz, was killed in a case of mistaken identity, according to news reports.
Another suspect, 19-year-old Kevin Alvarez, of the Bronx, was arrested Sunday on charges of murder, manslaughter, and gang assault. He has pleaded not guilty.
Cops say they raided the gang's New Jersey hideout where they recognized one suspect because of his droopy drawers. When police got to the vicinity, one person was able to escape, but he was then apprehended minutes later.
Prosecutors said the New Jersey house where authorities arrested the other six suspects is known as a hangout for a street gang called the Trinitarios.
Police release a video surveillance showing two men in the white and black T-shirt as part of a group of men who allegedly hacked Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, 15, with a knife to death in the Bronx on June, 2018.
PIX11 reports the victim was targeted because a relative of one gang member was featured in a sex tape and thought Guzman-Feliz was in the video.
Guzman-Feliz's death sent shockwaves through the community, and on social media, as the hashtag #JusticeforJunior began trending. His death has particularly struck a nerve for Cardi B. In response to the recent news, the native rapper reportedly donated $8,000 to Junior's family GoFundMe campaign.
"He said my condolences to the family and they [are] going to be working hard to make justice", said Feliz.
"My heart is broken. I want my son with me". "They have to pay - what they did to my son". "That's my Junior baby".
His family says the teen had big dreams of one day joining the NYPD. "They did him like an animal. We watched him grow up".
De Blasio called the killing a "disgusting terrible incident" and said "everyone responsible will be brought to justice".
The high-profile celebs went to Instagram this past Sunday and poured out their emotions of Guzman-Feliz's fatal stabbing. "It feels very personal to have lost an exemplary young man".
