Joe Jackson, the patriarch and band manager of the world famous Jackson family, which included King Of Pop Michael Jackson and his groundbreaking sister Janet, has died at age 89, according to a report from TMZ.

Joe Jackson - the patriarch of the Jackson family - has died, TMZ reports. Brian Oxman, a close friend of Joe Jackson's, confirmed his death to Rolling Stone.

"My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable".

On 24 June, Joe Jackson appeared to tweet from his personal account: "I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see". He referenced that toughness recently when he shared some advice for grandson Blanket Jackson in a heartfelt video: "Be like me: Be tough, in a good way, and you'll live a long time".

Joe Jackson - the father of Michael, Janet, La Toya, and their seven siblings, and the mastermind behind the Jackson 5 - has died. "Katherine Jackson and the family", the estate of Michael Jackson, which includes co-executors John Branca and John McClain, said in a statement mentioning Joe Jackson's wife Katherine. If you messed up, you got hit, sometimes with a belt, sometimes with a switch.

T.J. Jackson, another of Tito's sons, thanked Joe for protecting his family over the years.

Jackson was born in 1928 in Fountain Hill, Arkansas and was the eldest of five children. Joe Jackson was even left out of Michael's will. He's set in his ways and I think he did the best that he could and I think he did a wonderful job with us-the outcome-but the way he went about it, I don't know if I agree with that.

Randy Jackson's son also took to social media to mourn his late grandfather. In 1975, Joe Jackson oversaw a new deal for the band-now renamed The Jacksons-with Epic Records, the label for which Michael would ultimately record the massively successful albums Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, and unsafe.

Jackson is survived by his wife, Katherine and their children Maureen, 68, Jackie, 67, Tito, 64, Jermaine, 63, La Toya, 62, Marlon, 61, Randy, 56, and Janet, 52.

Jackson never apologized for the unbending physical and verbal discipline he inflicted on his children during their formative years in Gary, Indiana.

Father and son seemed to have reconciled for a time when Michael Jackson was on trial on child molestation charges.

Jackson was born in Arkansas and raised his family in IN before settling in Las Vegas.

Past year he said he was "truly sorry" for the way he treated them.

"This was Gary, Indiana, and I had to make sure that they didn't get in any type of trouble, and things of that sort", he added.

While the group was with Motown, Joe helped The Jackson 5 reach nationwide fame with hits like "ABC", "I Want You Back," "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There".
