A man was arrested and charged with trying to extort Kevin Hart

As TMZ reports, Jackson, an actor, was a close friend of Hart's for almost two decades, a revelation that only adds salt to the wound.

Prosecutors from the L.A. County District Attorney's office believe Jackson contacted Hart and demanded an undisclosed sum of cash between August 25 and 30, 2017 in exchange for keeping the incriminating hotel room video under wraps.

According to Page Six, Jonathan Todd Jackson was arrested today and charged with two felony counts of extortion - one count of attempted extortion, one count of extortion by a threatening letter.

"Mind blown.", he tweeted shortly after the news was reported. Prosecutors are asking for bail to be set at $100,000.

Hart, the star of "Jumanji" and "Ride Along", was dogged by media reports past year that he had cheated on his wife and previous partners. If convicted on both counts, Jackson faces a possible maximum sentence of four years in county jail.

Johnathan was even present at Kevin's bachelor party. Hurt ... at a loss for words and simply in complete disbelief at the moment.

That why, when word got out that Jackson was allegedly part of the scheme to bilk Hart out of millions of dollars, Hart took to Twitter to express how "disappointed" and "betrayed" he felt by Jackson's alleged actions.

The woman in the clip, Montia Sabbag, came out and cleared her name and said past year via her lawyer, Lisa Bloom, that she "had nothing to do with this and that she is a crime victim just like Kevin Hart".
