Brandi Chastain, an Olympic and World Cup soccer champion, was inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame on Monday, and the internet hasn't stopped talking about the bronze plaque meant to honor her.
Gotta hand it to Brandi. who graciously accepted the plaque despite the fact it looked NOTHING like her.
Brandi Chastain celebrates her winning penalty kick to defeat China 5-4 at the Women's World Cup soccer final between the two countries, July 10, 1999 at the Rose Bowl.
But the president of the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, Kevin O'Brien, said he spoke to Chastain on Tuesday and offered to revamp the plaque if she sent a new photograph of herself.
"I didn't feel it was a flawless representation", Chastain told KTVU. I don't know how hard it is to make one of these things.
Is this really the plaque for a US soccer hero?
"He's done a lot of the plaques", O'Brien said.
Not only does the plaque look nothing like Chastain, but it doesn't even look like the face of a woman.
She's also a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. "But it's the right thing to do".
Let's take a look at some of the best Twitter reactions to the plaque gone wrong.
