Google Assistant on Wear OS gets smart suggestions and Assistant Actions

Google now lets you review Assistant actions and apps

Google Home Smart Speaker Review: Smartest Speaker You Can Buy?

Adding Google Assistant integration makes them more practical to integrate into an existing setup, helping you make more rooms smart-controlled for cheap. Scrolling up after asking Assistant a query will reveal a list of related suggestions such as possible follow up questions in rounded bubbles that users can select to continue the conversation. And it's now working with Dish to integrate the Hopper receivers with the Assistant, so that you can say things like, "Hey Google, switch to AMC" through either your phone or a Google Home device.

"Voice is a totally different medium for consumers and for developers", said Ilya Gelfenbeyn, the newly announced head of Google Assistant Investments, in announcing support for Seattle voice app testing company Pulse Labs. The new Wear OS skills revolve around Google Assistant, which Google first brought to Wear OS (then known as Android Wear) a year ago. The company also uses this opportunity to announce upcoming features, software products and more. By its count, the number of compatible devices recently hit the 5,000 mark.

Other useful additions include more security brands, like ADT, First Alert, and Vivin Smart Home, smart door locks from August and Schlage, and home security cameras from Panasonic and Arlo. The Assistant will also work with Logitech's Harmony remotes so you can browse channels, adjust volume, etc. IHS market analyst Blake Kozak estimates that Amazon Alexa is able to work across 11,200 smart home devices in 2017, as pointed out by CNET. So, while Google needs to catch up, it clearly offers a full catalogue that's continually expanding.

Interested companies and startups that have big ideas and are interested in partnering with the Google Assistant team can reach out to apply through this Google Assistant investment form.
