As the summer travel season approaches, gas prices in Chattanooga are up almost 53 cents per gallon from a year ago.
According to GasBuddy.com, the average gallon of gas has gone up more than 7 cents, bringing the average to $2.81 a gallon.
Overall, the national average of gas prices has risen 15 cents per gallon during the last month.
