FYF Fest won't celebrate their 15th Anniversary this July as Goldenvoice has announced the festival's cancellation. Originally featuring headliners Janet Jackson, Florence + the Machine, and Future, the festival was canceled by owners Goldenvoice and AEG Live just weeks after announcing the lineup. 2018 was supposed to be a triumphant moment for the festival brand, which faced growing uncertainty following the resignation of Carlson previous year after graphic accounts of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior were made public.
Founded by Sean Carlson in 2004, the festival has seen its share of controversy in recent months.
The music festival was allegedly canceled due to low ticket sales, but Billboard states that the team "Felt unable to present an experience on par with fan expectations".
One of the most F.O.M.O inducing festivals that takes place each year, FYF Fest has today been axed for it's 2018 instalment.
Rumors of FYF's problems started last week as booking agents began to quietly call up talent buyers and inquire about possible replacement dates as word of FYF's poor ticket sales began to trickle out.
In the statement, festival organizers promised "local shows soon, featuring some of the unbelievable artists from the 2018 line up". Additionally, it seems as if there will be some local shows featuring artists that were booked for the festival will be playing in Los Angeles at some point in the future, so stay tuned for details there.
