Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, is best known for her critically acclaimed albums Visions and Art Angels; while Musk is the billionaire founder of Tesla and SpaceX who recently launched a auto into space. Elon Musk and Grimes did exactly that last night.
The couple had been quietly dating for about a month, and a joke was the basis for their union, according to Page Six.
According to an insider, the billionaire, who previously dated Amber Heard, was planning to make an online joke about the thought experiment Rokos Basilisk, where artificial intelligence rule the world and punish those who didn't help their existence.
"Elon was researching the idea of joking about Rococo Basilisk, and when he saw Grimes had already joked about it, he reached out to her", the source said. Musk had planned to tweet a pun about "Roko's Basilisk" (a thought experiment considering a future where AI overlords torture mankind eternally) mashed up with the word "Rococo" (the ornate baroque art style).
Don't know if you heard about Roko's Basilisk. It turns out somebody had-Grimes, three years ago. "They were both poking fun at AI".
Musk is well-known for warning of an impending A.I. apocalypse, which he believes is more risky than nuclear war.
Apparently, the pair met after Grimes, real name Claire Elise Boucher, directed a video for the song Venus Fly which impressed Elon so much that he tweeted her with a bit of Musky praise. In 2010, The New York Times had lauded her studio album "Visions" as "one of the most impressive albums of the year so far".
Responding to critics on Twitter who were wondering why the tech entrepreneur wasn't using his vast wealth to address the nationwide housing crisis, Musk followed up on May 7, indicating that those same bricks would now be sold on the cheap for low-priced housing.
Grimes is also a major in philosophy and psychology, with minors in electro-acoustics and Russian.
