Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that he spoke with Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann's agent last October, with speculation that the France worldwide forward could join Barca for €100 million in the summer.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu told RAC1 he met with Griezmann's representatives last October, while maintaining he still had a "good relationship" with Atleti president Enrique Cerezo and chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin.

The attacker has been linked with a move away from Barca at times in recent years, with Manchester City having been interested in signing him in the past.

Diego Simeone's side faces Marseille in the UEFA Europa League final in Lyon on 17 May.

Barcelona boss Bartomeu in an interview said: "I don't want to talk about players at other clubs".

"We don't talk of players from other teams".

"But we have to be very cautious about saying anything about a player that is not ours and making sure we respect our rivals", he added. We have to continue working on this aspect to reach the finals.

Barca coach Ernesto Valverde on Tuesday described Griezmann as "great player". "Dembele is one for the future and we expect a lot from him in the next few seasons".

Madrid defender Ramos said Messi was wrong to speak with referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández in the Camp Nou tunnel at half-time, but Valverde countered that suggestion by claiming it was commonplace.

"I don't know [where I'll be next season]", he said. "Nobody [is alone] in that sense, I guarantee it".

Having already won the league title and Copa del Rey, Bartomeu feels it has been an excellent season despite dropping out of the Champions League quarter-finals after a loss to Roma.

"We have a relationship with his agent like we do with other agents".
