Ahsan Iqbal says Enemies of State Adamant on Sabotaging CPEC

Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday lashed out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and said that cricket player is giving us lecture on the roads. He further said the suspect was stopped from firing a second shot.

The 22-year-old assailant was immediately arrested. Abid is reportedly a resident of Narowal.

The minister was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital in Narowal, where he is now being treated. His son, Ahmed, confirmed his father was conscious and out of danger. "He is out of danger and being taken to a medical facility in Lahore. We will know only after investigation of the attacker", said the government official.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari has also condemned the attack on Ahsan Iqbal.

PPP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Sherry Rehman expressed regret at the incident.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi ordered the Inspector General of Punjab to "trace the attack planners and submit report in 24 hours". Developed countries would have been underdeveloped if they had Imran Khan, he added.
